Memorial Description

Garden of Remembrance, with soil and plants, overall size 30 paces by 50 paces.
There is a plaque set into the wall which bears the dedication in raised Roman letters.

is dedicated as a memorial to Henry George Alan
Ninth Duke of Northumberland
killed in action on the 21st May 1940
and to
all those from this Borough
who died for their King and Country
during the Second World War.

Notes

1. Both Garden and plaque were constructed in connection with Tynemouth Centenary celebrations.

2. The night before the unveiling there was a storm, and workmen spent 5 hours the next morning repairing damage to garden and plants which cost an estimated £50.
