Unveiled 7th July 1999 by Vice Admiral Michael Gretton CB., Director of Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
Memorial Description
Drag anchor and mounting bollard, total height 2m. It stands on a square stone pedestal. The dedication is incised into the stone on the top using Roman capitals throughout.
Unveiling details are carried on a metal plaque attached to the side of the plinth. There is a single line border. Lettering is in Roman lower case lettering. There are four logos across the bottom: North Tyneside Council; North Tyneside Challenge; Swan Hunter; Port of Tyne.
