Unveiled and dedicated 4th January 1920 by Rev. Mark Fletcher, M.A., Vicar.

Memorial Description

Stained glass window of three lights with traceried top, approx. 7 feet high x 6 feet wide (2.13m x 1.82m). The left hand light depicts St. Oswald with his staff; the centre light shows St. George; the right hand light shows an angel (?St. Clement) with one hand resting on an anchor. The inscription is along the bottom of all three lights, in archaic script with illuminated capitals.

To the glory of God and in sacred memory of John George Dixon of this Parish 2nd Lieut. 3rd Northumberland Fusiliers
who fell in action at Fontaine- les-Croisilles, France, 16th June 1917, aged 19 years. Erected by his loving parents.

Notes

1. At the unveiling, there was a collection towards the fund to provide a plaque dedicated to all parishioners who fell.

2. 2nd Lt. Dixon was educated at Newcastle Grammar School J1.19 and was a chorister at the church.

3. He is remembered at Longbenton on L25.04 also L25.02
